Abstract

The staging of Karakalpak national dance requires a delicate balance between preserving cultural authenticity and adapting the art form for contemporary performance contexts. In this process, the role of the balletmaster is crucial, as they serve as the bridge between traditional dance practices and modern staging techniques. This article examines the multifaceted responsibilities of the balletmaster in the Karakalpak national dance staging process, drawing on insights from dance ethnography, choreography, and performance studies. The study explores the balletmaster's duties in areas such as dancer training, choreographic development, musical integration, and overall production management. It also highlights the unique challenges faced by balletmasters working with Karakalpak national dance, including the need to navigate cultural sensitivities and ensure the preservation of the dance form's traditional integrity. By understanding the balletmaster's pivotal role, scholars, dance companies, and cultural institutions can better leverage this key figure in the successful staging and dissemination of Karakalpak national dance.
